Flip the Script.

In youth soccer, it often feels like we spend most of our time pointing out what needs fixing:

  • the cost.
  • the travel overload
  • the over‑coaching,
  • the sideline noise,
  • the pressure
  • the structure.
  • Nag‑nag‑nag. Improve‑improve‑improve.
  • Etc. etc. etc.

So, let’s flip the script.

Let’s celebrate what’s already working …

Our Kids Are ABLE — each in their own way

Ability looks different for every child.

Some sprint down the field, some move at their own pace, some navigate challenges we never see, and some simply shine by being part of the team.

But all of them are:

  • ABLE to belong,
  • ABLE to try,
  • ABLE to grow,
  • ABLE to experience the joy of play.

That’s something to be grateful for. Deeply Grateful.

.

Our Families Are Showing Up — even when life is busy

Let’s give credit where credit is due. Parents are:

  • driving to practices
  • juggling schedules
  • cheering (mostly appropriately!)
  • supporting their kids
  • making youth soccer possible

Even the parents who occasionally shout “Shoot!” from the sidelines do so because they care.

Most families are doing their best — and that’s worth appreciating.

Many Coaches Are Giving Their Time — and their hearts

Coaches have:

  • taught dozens of lessons
  • tied hundreds of shoelaces
  • repeated “spread out” more times than they can count
  • encouraged kids through highs and lows
  • created a safe place for growth

Most caring coaches aren’t chasing trophies; they’re chasing:

  • smiles,
  • confidence,
  • and the rare moment when the whole team remembers to spread out at the same time

Teams Improve — even if the standings don’t show it

As the season unfolds:

  • passes start connecting
  • friendships deepen
  • players discover new strengths
  • mistakes turn into learning
  • the game begins to “click”

Development quietly blossoms.

It’s not loud.

It’s not flashy.

But it’s real.

Communities Are Providing Opportunities — and that matters

  • Fields are open.
  • Kids have a place to play.
  • Many coaches are volunteering.
  • Referees are showing up (mostly!).
  • Clubs are organizing.

In a world full of challenges, youth soccer remains one of our most positive community efforts, because it gives children a place to play.

A THANK YOU

So instead of another list of what adults need to stop doing, let’s appreciate what they are doing:

  • showing up,
  • supporting,
  • caring,
  • giving kids a chance to play
  • giving kids a chance to ‘Fall in Love With the Game.’

Youth soccer isn’t perfect, but it’s still one of the best things a child can do: Play!

Isn’t that FUNtastic?

Thanks to every administrator, coach, volunteer, and parent who makes it possible. You’re doing more right than you realize.

Let’s keep creating environments where every child who wants to play… Gets to Play!
