BECAUSE INACTIVITY COSTS (Part 2)

Basically, Soccer Is a Mental Workout Disguised As a Game.

In Part 1, we talked about the alarming consequences of kids quitting soccer—more screen time, declining physical health, and social skills taking a nosedive. But here’s something even more surprising: Science Says Quitting Soccer Might Also Be Bad for Their Brains.

That’s right—new research shows that playing team sports like soccer actually makes kids smarter. So, if you’ve ever felt like your child is making sharper decisions on the field than when cleaning their room… you’re not imagining things.

Team Sports = Brain Gains

A recent study published in JAMA Network Open (Dec. 17, 2024) found that kids who played team sports—like soccer and volleyball—scored higher in Brain Power Skills than those who didn’t play at all or only played individual sports.

Wait…What Are These “Brain Power Skills”?

Basically, they help kids:
Pay attention and stay focused (like actually listening instead of daydreaming about snacks)
Remember important things (like where they left their cleats—again)
Make quick, smart decisions (in attack and defense!)
Solve problems fast (like figuring out how to get out of chores)

What the Study Found:

🔹 Researchers tracked nearly 900 kids from ages 5 to 11 in the Netherlands.
🔹 Just being active didn’t boost brain function—but playing team sports did.
🔹 Soccer and volleyball players outperformed kids in individual sports like swimming or gymnastics.

Why Does Soccer Boost Brainpower?

According to researchers, team sports force kids to:
⚽ Think fast and adapt—because no two plays are ever the same.
👀 Read the game—anticipate what teammates and opponents will do next.
🤝 Work together—because you can’t dribble past an entire team (well, maybe Messi can).
🧠 Make split-second decisions—like whether to shoot, pass, or try that ridiculous bicycle kick.

The U.S. Problem: Too Many Kids Are Quitting

The Dutch have this figured out—over 93% of kids there play sports. In the U.S., though, the numbers aren’t so great:
❌ Only 53.8% of American kids (ages 6-17) play on a sports team.
❌ By age 13, 70% of U.S. kids have quit sports entirely.
❌ Barriers like high costs (“pay to play”) and the pressure to specialize early are driving kids away.

Keeping Kids in the Game—For Good

Soccer should be something kids want to play, not something they quit. Let’s make sure they stick with it!

The traditional game isn’t keeping enough kids engaged—70-75% drop out in their teens That’s exactly why Quad-Goal Soccer is a game-changer.

🔹 More action, more decisions, more engagement—no more standing around like statues.
🔹 More goals, more celebrations—because scoring is fun (and who doesn’t love a good goal dance?).
🔹 Encourages creativity and problem-solving—because kids learn best when they think for themselves.

Soccer isn’t just about keeping kids active—it’s about building sharper minds, stronger bodies, and brighter futures.

It’s Time to Rethink the Game. Let’s move beyond the ‘Traditional Game’ and get kids playing Quad-Goal Soccer—a faster, more exciting, and FUN way to keep preteens and teens engaged. They’ll fall in love with soccer all over again…. GUARANTEED!
