$20

A well-known speaker started his seminar by holding up a $20 bill.

He asked, “Who would like this?” Hands went up all over the room. He said, “I am going to give this to one of you, but first, let me do this.” He proceeded to crumple up the bill up. He then asked, “Who still wants it?” the same hands went up.

He replied, “What if I do this?” And then he dropped the $20 bill on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty, and said, “Now, who still wants this?” Still, hands went up.

“My friends, you all have learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease value. It was still worth $20. Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way.”

You might feel that you are not reaching others, but no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value as a FUNdamental SOCCER coach if you focus on the children. Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased.

You are still priceless to this movement if you are teaching the development of our players. The worth of our methodology comes not in what we do or whom we know but by Who We Are!

You are very special to the FUNdamental SOCCER movement. Don’t ever forget that!
