Coach Chad - For the scrimmage, I had the two teams of four play one another (one had on yellow bibs), with the two-touch rule.
Koach Karl - Great -if this was your Cooperative Scrimmage using (PLUS).
Coach Chad - I noticed that a couple of them tried to play back, instead of passing the ball and running to get open for support.
Koach Karl - Passing & running to open for support, come on-man, these are 8 year old girls who need to be allowed to Just Play. Mabye after 10,000 hours practice with you they may surprise you and actually Pass & run to open space … Be Patient & Just Let Them Play :)
Coach Chad - I made the silly mistake of not "turning off" my two-touch rule for the competitive scrimmage, instead of just letting them play.
Koach Karl - Love It. An adult realizing that children take adults literal & will follow all of their rules & regulations :)
Coach Chad - I also failed to mark boundaries for scrimmage so that they could practice goal/corner kicks and throw-ins as in real game play. Fields should be lined off soon, which will help with that.
Koach Karl - No boundaries means more physical fitness : There is nothing wrong with playing in an open-field and they have plenty of time to learn about goal/corner, etc. kicks. Get them use to the '9-Step Routine' and incorporate some of this other stuff in the near or distant future. Be Patient & Just Let Them Learn at their Own Pace :)
Coach Chad - There were no keepers, either, during our scrimmage.
Koach Karl - That means more goals being scored & no one in a position to be embarrassed - Priceless..!
